Alexey Markin is an art historian, researcher, and interdisciplinary artist based in Hamburg. Having graduated in Art History from the University of Hamburg, his doctoral research focuses on representations of Black people during the Cold War in Soviet and American art.

Trained as an artist at the Stroganov University, Alexey combines academic research with artistic practice, including art projects such as The Paul Robeson Project. Alongside his research, he hosts Tamizdat-Radio, a radio-podcast focused on art, anti-war resistance, culture in exile, and critical opposition voices.
